GAF Begins Documentation and Body Selection Exercise for 2026/2027 Enlistment

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has commenced a three-day Documentation and Body Selection Exercise for qualified applicants under the 2026/2027 Enlistment Exercise.

The exercise begins today, Monday, September 28, and runs until Wednesday, September 30, 2026, marking the next stage of the recruitment process following the closure of the online application portal on September 23.

The GAF said applicants who have successfully progressed to this stage will receive text messages containing information about their designated screening centres, reporting dates and other instructions.

Applicants who receive the official notification have been advised to report to their assigned centres on the specified dates and follow all instructions issued by the Armed Forces.

GAF enlistment screening centres

The Documentation and Body Selection Exercise will be conducted at designated centres in the Northern and Southern sectors.

Northern Sector

Applicants assigned to the Northern Sector are to report to:

4 Infantry Battalion, Uaddara Barracks, Kumasi.

Southern Sector

Applicants assigned to the Southern Sector are to report to:

Nicholson Stadium, Air Force Base, Accra.

The GAF has urged applicants to carefully check the information contained in their text messages and ensure they report to the correct centre on the date assigned to them.

Online applications closed September 23

The current documentation and body selection stage follows the completion of the online application process.

The deadline for submitting applications was Wednesday, September 23, 2026, after the 2026/2027 enlistment exercise opened earlier in September.

The GAF had previously announced that applicants should rely on its official communication channels for recruitment information and be cautious of individuals who claim they can influence the recruitment process or secure enlistment places.

What applicants should know

The Documentation and Body Selection Exercise forms part of the Armed Forces’ recruitment process through which applicants who have progressed from the application stage are physically assessed.

Applicants who receive notification are expected to:

  • Report to the centre indicated in their official SMS.
  • Report on the date and time communicated to them.
  • Follow instructions from GAF officials.
  • Present the required documentation as directed.
  • Avoid relying on unofficial recruitment information.

The GAF has stressed the importance of following the instructions contained in the official notification.

GAF changes recruitment screening approach

The current exercise follows lessons from last year’s recruitment screening, when large crowds at some centres resulted in serious logistical and safety challenges.

During the 2025/2026 recruitment exercise, the GAF introduced changes to its screening arrangements after congestion and other difficulties affected the initial documentation and body-selection process.

The Armed Forces subsequently expanded and decentralised screening arrangements, including the use of additional screening locations, in an effort to reduce congestion and make the process more manageable.

The GAF’s official account of the 2025 exercise shows that documentation and body selection formed the initial stage of screening, with successful applicants progressing to subsequent stages of the recruitment process.

Applicants urged to follow official instructions

The Ghana Armed Forces has again urged applicants to pay close attention to their official notifications and avoid relying on information circulating from unauthorised sources.

This is particularly important during recruitment periods, when scammers and individuals claiming to have connections within the Armed Forces may attempt to exploit applicants.

The GAF has previously warned prospective applicants to use only its verified communication channels for recruitment information.

Applicants who have received official SMS notifications should therefore follow the reporting instructions provided to them and attend only the designated centre assigned by the Armed Forces.

The 2026/2027 GAF Documentation and Body Selection Exercise runs from September 28 to September 30, 2026, at the designated centres in Accra and Kumasi.

The exercise represents another major step in the selection process for applicants seeking to join the Ghana Armed Forces.
