Simeone Backs Ademola Lookman to Bounce Back from Difficult Spell at Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has expressed confidence in Ademola Lookman, urging the Nigerian forward not to lose belief as he struggles to find his best form at the Spanish club.

The 28-year-old has found playing time harder to come by in recent weeks after failing to consistently reproduce the impressive performances that marked his previous campaign.

Lookman featured for just 14 minutes in Atletico Madrid’s 2-0 victory over Levante on Saturday, raising further questions about his current role in Simeone’s squad.

However, the Argentine manager has made it clear that he still believes in the Nigerian international and expects him to work through the difficult period.

Simeone Sends Encouraging Message to Lookman

Speaking ahead of Atletico Madrid’s UEFA Champions League showdown against Bayern Munich, Simeone urged Lookman to remain patient and maintain confidence in his abilities.

The Atletico manager acknowledged that players experience difficult periods during their careers but insisted that such moments should not lead to frustration.

“I have a lot of faith in him. I don’t want him to get frustrated because he’s not going through his best moment, because it’s part of life, part of the game, part of football,” Simeone told reporters.

“This is work, this is believing in what you do.”

Lookman Faces Challenge to Regain Regular Playing Time

Lookman will be hoping to use Simeone’s backing as motivation to regain his place in the Atletico Madrid starting line-up.

The Nigerian forward has previously demonstrated his quality at the highest level, and his ability to influence attacking play remains an important part of his game.

However, competition for places and the manager’s tactical decisions mean he will need to make the most of his opportunities when they arrive.

With Atletico preparing for an important European fixture against Bayern Munich, attention will be on whether Lookman can earn a bigger role in the team.

For now, Simeone’s message is clear: he has not lost faith in the Nigerian forward and wants him to keep working hard rather than become discouraged.
