Hearts of Oak Appoint Interim Management Committee After MD Julius Ben Emunah Resigns

Accra Hearts of Oak have moved quickly to ensure stability at the club after establishing an Interim Management Committee (IMC) to oversee its affairs following the resignation of Managing Director Julius Ben Emunah.

The five-member committee will be chaired by former diplomat Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe as the Phobians begin the process of finding a permanent management team.

The Hearts of Oak Board of Directors announced the formation of the IMC on Friday, September 11, just two days after Emunah resigned from his position.

The move is designed to ensure that the club’s administrative and operational activities continue without disruption during the transition.

Nyaho-Tamakloe to Lead Interim Committee

Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe will serve as Chairman of the Interim Management Committee.

He will be joined by four other members who have been assigned specific responsibilities within the temporary management structure.

Samuel Wilfred Yaw Inkoom has been appointed Director of Finance, while Akwasi Agyemang will oversee Operations.

Vincent Sowah Odotei has been placed in charge of Administration, with National Chapters Committee (NCC) Chairman Alhaji Yusif Abdulai responsible for Mobilization.

The committee will manage the club’s affairs while the Board works towards appointing a permanent management team.

According to the Board, the objective is to maintain stability and keep the club focused on its ambitions both domestically and on the continental stage.

The Board assured stakeholders that it was taking the necessary steps to ensure Hearts continue its pursuit of “pre-eminence” in Ghana and beyond.

Julius Ben Emunah’s Seven-Month Tenure Ends

The formation of the IMC follows the resignation of Julius Ben Emunah as Managing Director on September 9.

Emunah’s tenure lasted just seven months after he was appointed on February 2, 2026.

He succeeded Dr Delali Anku-Adiamah and arrived at Hearts after previously serving as Head of Competitions at the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

In his resignation statement, Emunah described his decision as a difficult one and expressed appreciation to the Board, led by Togbe Afede XIV, as well as the NCC for their support during his time at the club.

Despite leaving the Managing Director position, Emunah stressed that his commitment to Hearts of Oak remains intact.

He also indicated that he would be willing to assist the club in any capacity if required.

Leadership Change Comes After Perfect League Start

Interestingly, Emunah’s resignation came just days after Hearts of Oak made an impressive start to the new Ghana Premier League campaign.

The Phobians opened their 2026/27 season with a commanding 4-0 victory over Berekum Chelsea, immediately raising expectations among their supporters.

The emphatic win provided an encouraging start on the pitch, but the club now faces an important period of transition away from it.
