Hayden Hackney Celebrates ‘Special Night’ After Scoring First Everton Goal Against Newcastle

Hayden Hackney has described scoring his first goal for Everton as a “special night” after helping the Toffees secure a 3-1 victory over Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup fourth round.

Everton booked their place in the quarter-finals following an impressive performance at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Thursday night.

James Garner, Hackney and Thierno Barry were all on the scoresheet as Everton overcame Newcastle to progress in the competition.

Speaking after the match, Hackney expressed his delight at scoring his first goal for the Merseyside club. He also highlighted the importance of the victory, particularly after Everton had suffered defeats in their previous two matches.

“I’m delighted with that, it was a special night,” Hackney told the club’s official website.

“I think us as a team and the fans knew it was a big game. After losing the last two games – I know it was against good opposition – but I feel like that was a big moment tonight.

“I think it was an important night against Premier League opposition. The fans really helped. They were unbelievable.”

Hackney Praises Barry’s Assist

The midfielder also explained how he had been working on improving his movement inside the penalty area, particularly his ability to arrive at the right moment to finish attacking opportunities.

Reflecting on his goal, Hackney credited Barry for providing the assist that allowed him to find the back of the net.

“I’m always working on arriving in the box at the right time. It was a great ball from Barry, and I managed to put it in the corner.

“It was a great feeling to get my first goal for this amazing club and hopefully there’s many more to come,” he added.

Everton Look Ahead to the Quarter-Finals

The victory gives Everton renewed momentum as they continue their Carabao Cup campaign.

For Hackney, the goal represents an important personal milestone, while the team’s progress into the last eight provides another opportunity to compete for silverware.

With the supporters behind them, Everton will now turn their attention to the quarter-final stage as they look to continue their journey in the competition.
