Vinícius Júnior Seriously Considered Arsenal Move Before Committing to Real Madrid

Real Madrid forward Vinícius Júnior seriously considered joining Arsenal during the summer transfer window before deciding to extend his stay at the Spanish giants until 2032.

The Brazilian winger’s representatives have revealed that Arsenal made a determined attempt to sign the 26-year-old while negotiations over a new Real Madrid contract were ongoing. However, Vinícius ultimately chose to remain at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Michael Yormack, president of Roc Nation Sports International, the agency representing Vinícius, confirmed that Arsenal were heavily involved in the pursuit.

“Arsenal were very involved. They were very aggressive,” Yormack said in an interview with SportsBoom.

He added that the forward’s long-standing connection with Madrid had played a significant role in his decision to stay.

Arsenal Made a Serious Attempt

Arsenal reportedly viewed Vinícius as a major attacking target and were prepared to offer a lucrative financial package to persuade him to move to the Premier League.

Yormack acknowledged that the player had to consider the opportunity when Arsenal showed such strong interest.

“When a team like Arsenal rolls out the red carpet for you, and makes you feel really wanted, then obviously you have to listen,” he said.

Grant Veitch, another senior figure at Roc Nation Sports International, explained that Vinícius’ familiarity with Madrid and his desire to continue building his legacy at the club influenced the outcome.

The Brazilian joined Real Madrid from Flamengo in 2018 at the age of 18 and has since established himself as one of the club’s key attacking players.

New Contract Ends Transfer Speculation

Real Madrid officially announced on August 6 that Vinícius had signed a contract extension keeping him at the club until June 30, 2032. The club did not disclose the financial terms of the agreement.

According to Real Madrid, Vinícius had made 375 appearances and scored 128 goals for the club by the time of the announcement, winning 14 trophies, including two Champions League titles.

His decision to renew ended the summer speculation surrounding a possible move to England and dealt a setback to Arsenal’s reported efforts to strengthen their attack.

Vinícius Wants to Build His Legacy in Madrid

Yormack indicated that the forward hopes to spend the remainder of his playing career in the Spanish capital.

“Vini’s heart is in Madrid, that’s where he’s always wanted to be,” he said, adding that the player hopes to remain there for the rest of his career.

Although Vinícius was willing to listen to Arsenal’s proposal, his representatives believe his connection with Real Madrid and ambition to win more trophies were decisive factors.

For now, Arsenal’s pursuit appears to be over, with Vinícius committed to Madrid on a long-term contract.
