Angel Reese Leads Atlanta Dream to 97-71 Win Over Valkyries in WNBA Finals

Angel Reese delivered another outstanding performance as the Atlanta Dream defeated the Golden State Valkyries 97-71 to take a 2-1 lead in the WNBA Finals.

Reese finished with 21 points, 12 rebounds and three steals on Wednesday night, following her impressive 30-point, 16-rebound performance in Game 2. Her latest double-double helped Atlanta secure a second consecutive victory in the best-of-seven championship series.

The 24-year-old continued to make history, recording a double-double in each of the first three games of the Finals. She also became the youngest player to achieve three consecutive double-doubles in a WNBA championship series.

Atlanta Pulls Away After Golden State Fightback

The Dream started strongly, building a 22-12 lead late in the opening quarter. Golden State fought back to reduce the deficit before the break and briefly levelled the score early in the third quarter.

However, Atlanta responded with an 8-0 scoring run to regain control. The Dream continued to dominate the third period and entered the final quarter with a commanding advantage before stretching the margin further to seal the 26-point victory.

Rhyne Howard contributed 16 points for Atlanta, while Naz Hillmon added 15 as the Dream recorded five players in double figures. Gabby Williams led the Valkyries with 15 points.

Reese: The Job Is Not Finished

Despite the emphatic victory, Reese insisted that Atlanta would remain focused as it pursues its first WNBA championship.

The Dream are looking to win their first title after previous unsuccessful trips to the Finals. Golden State, meanwhile, is competing for a championship in only its second season following an impressive debut campaign.

Game 4 is scheduled for Saturday, October 24, at State Farm Arena in Atlanta. The Dream will aim to extend their lead, while the Valkyries will look to level the series at 2-2.

With Reese continuing to produce at both ends of the court, Atlanta has put itself in a strong position—but the championship remains undecided.
