Ghana’s Black Maidens have arrived in Rabat, Morocco, as they prepare for the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, which runs from October 17 to November 7.
Head coach Nana Joe Adarkwa’s team will compete in Group C alongside Norway, Brazil and Canada as they seek to make a strong impression on their return to the global tournament.
The Black Maidens will begin their group-stage campaign against Norway on Sunday, October 18, at the Mohammed VI Football Complex, Pitch 3. Kick-off is scheduled for 18:00 local time, according to FIFA’s official match schedule.
Ghana will then face Brazil on Wednesday, October 21, at the same venue, before concluding their group fixtures against Canada on Saturday, October 24, at Pitch 1. The Canada match is scheduled for 15:00 local time.
The three matches will be crucial to Ghana’s hopes of progressing to the knockout stage in a competitive group featuring opponents from Europe, South America and North America.
Before arriving in Rabat, the team spent approximately two weeks in Casablanca, where the technical team worked on the squad’s fitness, tactics and overall readiness for the tournament.
Ghana played two international friendly matches during the preparation period. The team suffered a 3-0 defeat to China before responding with a 2-1 victory over Kenya on October 14.
The friendlies provided the technical team with an opportunity to assess the players ahead of the opening fixture against Norway.
The Black Maidens are returning to the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup after missing the previous edition. Ghana will look to draw inspiration from its history in the competition, which includes a bronze medal in 2012 and three quarter-final appearances.
Ghana secured qualification for the 2026 tournament after defeating Senegal on penalties in the final round of African qualifying, earning a place among the teams competing in Morocco.
With Norway, Brazil and Canada standing in their way in Group C, the team will need consistent performances across all three matches to secure progression.
The 2026 edition is the tenth FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup and features 24 national teams from six continents. The tournament offers Ghana’s young players an opportunity to test themselves against international opposition and build experience on the global stage.
